Sunshine smoothie

Who wants a burst of sunshine today? Well, here’s one - and it’s in a cup: A yummy and simple pineapple and banana smoothie to try out. I hope you like it.

Both pineapples and bananas have an abundance of health benefits.

Pineapples are loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. They can aid digestion and they are known to boost the immune system. Due to bromelain - the digestive enzyme in pineapples, as well as vitamin C, pineapples are also anti-inflammatory and can relieve pain.

Pineapples in the wild
I "might" have a thing for pineapples.

Bananas are possibly one of the most versatile and common fruits in the world. Like pineapples, bananas are rich in nutrients and antioxidants. Furthermore, they can help you feel fuller and to improve your blood sugar levels. Bananas are also thought to support digestive health.

Whatever the benefits, let’s be honest - pineapples and bananas are delicious! And combining the two! Embrace yourselves!!

This recipe just takes a couple of minutes and makes one large or two smaller portions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen bananas

  • 1 cup frozen pineapples

  • 3/4 cup water (if you have pineapple juice then that’s also a yummy option)

  • 1 cup plant milk of choice

  • Fresh slices of pineapple and banana for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Add all of the ingredients to the blender

  2. Blend for 1 minute or until creamy and smooth

  3. Pour the finished smoothie into a glass

  4. Garnish with slices of banana and pineapple if wanted

Notes:

If you don’t have frozen ingredients, you can add 2-3 ice cubes to the blender and reduce the liquids by ca. 1/2 cup.

I hope you enjoy this sunshine in a cup! Bon appetit!
